Over the last few years, I have been developing the content for a new way of teaching filmmaking workshops, which connects filmmakers to their creative gifts.
This new method blends in elements from my 20 years of experience in documentary filmmaking & teaching and from the creative coaching workshop Shake Your Gift that I co-developed in 2014. From this, I have been inspired and excited to create and deliver workshops that offer a holistic approach to the creative process involved in filmmaking.
Working on international film projects for the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine gave me the opportunity to test this out in 2015 & 2016. I devised and delivered film workshops in Arkhangelsk and Samara (Russia), to guide local filmmakers with the production of short films addressing heart disease in Russia. My challenge was to take them out of their comfort zone and to connect them with their creative gifts. The workshops were a huge success, the feed-back extremely positive and this has definitely made me want to do more.
At present, I’m continuing to develop and improve the content for the workshops & training courses, and want to collaborate with colleagues receptive to these ideas, whenever possible. See Workshop Films

“I liked the way Rani was conducting classes with us: the technique, methods of collaboration. Rani asked questions, which helps to develop and implement the idea.”

“Unusual, but very powerful and interesting format of the training. It was a pleasure to work with Rani and learn something new about interviewing.

“The training format is unusual, I really liked it. Largely due to this unusual format, which was offered by Rani, her talent, kindness and energy has created such an amazing creative atmosphere. I was very pleased to communicate, learn and work in our friendly and sincere team.”
